This article describes how to re-flash the OS / software image for a PlantStar Data Collection Module (DCM) in case there is corruption or some other reason to re-flash.
PROCEED WITH CAUTION - Flashing the wrong drive on your computer could result in your computer not functioning or the loss of important data. Make sure you know exactly which drive you are flashing. SYSCON cannot be responsible for misuse of the flashing software.
You will need the appropriate hardware and software.
For software, there are 2 options:
- Balena Etcher: Balena Etcher Download Page
- Rufus: Rufus Download Page
If you are flashing a USB Thumb Drive, you don't need any further hardware, other than the USB port on your computer.
If you are flashing a micro-SD card, you will need an appropriate converter to plug the micro-SD card into your computer.
If you are flashing a SATA SSD, you will need a USB to SATA converter.
Download the image that SYSCON Support provides for you.
Plug in the drive you are to flash, using an appropriate converter if necessary,
Open the image flashing software, load the image, and then flash to the drive you just plugged in. PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU ARE FLASHING TO THE CORRECT DRIVE. When you plug in the drive it should show the new drive letter that is being used. You can also note the drive brand and size, which will be shown when selecting the drive to flash to.
If there are any errors, it is possible that the drive is no longer usable and requires replacement. Please contact SYSCON Support for an appropriate replacement.
